Pangoa is a coffee and cocoa cooperative located in Junín, Central Peru. It was founded in 1977 by 50 small farmers and has 724 members (124 women). Pangoa is a dynamic cooperative with strong management team which supports members and the community through education programmes, technical assistance and credit services. Pangoa has an advanced gender programme and has established CODEMUS - women’s committees that manage women's empowerment initiatives.
Twin has worked with Pangoa to support them in applying for government funding for investment in coffee production and marketing. As a result of advocacy and training efforts, Twin and local partner Junta Nacional de Café (JNC), supported 43 cooperatives in the region in accessing local and regional government funding for investment in coffee production and marketing worth over $17m between August 2010 and July 2014.
