Chirinos, Peru

Chirinos is located in Cajamarca in Northern Peru and has 600 smallholder members (120 women) who farm across four northern districts (Chirinos, Tabaconas, La Coipa and Huarango). Founded in 1967, Chirinos promotes sustainable agriculture, food security, and gender and youth initiatives and markets to speciality markets, selling approximately 90% of its production to differentiated markets.

Twin and Chirinos Partnership

Twin has a well established partnership with Chirinos and has been working with the cooperative since 2000. Twin supported Chirinos in achieving Fairtrade certification in 2001.


Twin has supported Chirinos in accessing government funding for investment in coffee production and marketing and provided strategic support at the board level.
