Quality and processing

Cenfrocafe cups every delivery in a cupping lab and holds a cupping competition for members with prizes to incentivise quality improvements. As is traditional in the region, the majority of Cenfrocafe’s coffee is pulped and washed on-farm by the producers.  In addition to Cenfrocafe’s Field Officers, 50 farmer leaders (promotores) visit all the farms to help to spread good agricultural practices and meet certification requirements.

Projects

Twin, Cenfrocafe and Pret A Manger have joined forces to deliver an education programme for young farmers to safeguard the sustainability of the local coffee sector. Many young people are struggling to see a future in coffee, which presents a long-term threat to supply. The programme, developed in partnership with local vocational colleges, empowers the next generation of coffee leaders and entrepreneurs with the right qualifications.
