Summary

Ubwiza Bw'ikawa is a big and well-established cooperative, which has earned a reputation for uniting communities in the region. They are strongly opposed to any kind of discrimination in the workplace, and actively promote inclusivity and gender justice.

They have already undertaken several innovative and imaginative projects, such as establishing a fish farm by the washing station for members to buy fish cheaply; holding a fun, annual event for children to teach them how to look after their own coffee trees; and building strong, brick houses with metal roofs for the marginalised ethnic Batwa group, whose traditional, stick houses are extremely vulnerable to both extreme heat and heavy rain.
