About Twin
Twin is a producer-owned membership organisation dedicated to developing the fair trade supply chain for coffee, nuts, cocoa, sugar and fruit farmers.
Our Mission
"Twin seeks to use trade to positively redress unequal relations between north and south, to build better livelihoods for the poorest and the most marginalised in the trading chain and to promote developmental and longer term improvement in the political and economic environment."
Our Approach
Twin's approach is based on establishing long term trading relationships with marginalised producers. We invest heavily in:
- strengthening producer organisations (see Producer Partnership)
- supply chain management (see Twin Trading)
- fair trade brands (see Brands)
- information and knowledge generation to influence policy debates and to increase market awareness amongst producer partners

This unique model is built on long term sustainable relationships with producer-owned organisations and has been of critical importance to the development of the Fairtrade market.
Unlike many other traders, producers do not see Twin as just a client. We are partners who have earned the reputation for working with producer groups in both good and challenging times.
Who We Work With

Twin's primary stakeholders are the producer groups with which we work. Twin currently trades with and supports 39 producer groups (27 coffee, 2 cocoa, 2 sugar and 8 nuts) and is developing relationships with other organisations producing nuts, cocoa, sugar and fruit.
Brand Partners
Twin works closely with and supports its sister organisations Cafédirect, Divine, Liberation and OKÉ. This includes the delivery of contractual responsibilities, effective communication through the supply chain and implementation and support for investment in producer organisations. more on brand partners
Development Partners
Twin works with a number of organisations that support the development of producer organisations including Fairtrade Foundation, Oxfam, DFID, Root Capital, Hivos, World Bank, Fairtrade Labelling Organisation (FLO).
Wider Fair Trade Movement
Twin is active in supporting the development of UK and global networks of alternative trade organisations (ATOs) and small producers. Twin is an active member of IFAT (International Federation of Alternative Trade), participant in the UK Fair Trade Leaders Forum, supporter of the AFN (Africa Fairtrade Network) and the CLAC (Latin American and Caribbean Network of Small Fair Trade Producers) and contributor to FLO strategic reviews.
